Abstract

The reviews deals with the award winning film A Fantastic Woman(dir. Sebastián Lelio, 2017) in which the transgender woman Marina, the main character of this film, finds the ultimate sublimation of her lost love and her suffering in her music. I consider the notion of speech and a psychoanalytical session being a kind of ‘translation’ of one’s desire. In this film Marian’ sublimation can also be interpreted as Grace, a state of mind which transcends the every day suffering. This review combines in one space different ideas about the sublime and ask some questions about its connections to the body.
