About the Journal

Free Associations is a leading peer-reviewed periodical focused on non-clinical aspects of psychoanalysis and related psychodynamic approaches to psychotherapy, politics, media and culture.

Journal History

Between 1984 and 2005 Free Associations was published in hard copy and online under the Editorship of Professor Robert M. Young. In 2011 it was re-launched as a fully refereed online journal. In 2017 Robert Young resumed direct editorship along with co-editor Kurt Jacobsen. The journal is restored to the thrice yearly publication it now is under coeditors Kurt Jacobsen and David Morgan
