Abstract

This article depicts the present and future consequences of climate change vis-à-vis material and psychological suffering and argues these realities invite alterations in psychoanalytic method, aims, education, and ethics. The article begins with a brief discussion on climate change and its material and psychological impacts. This is to establish that we are in the midst of an unfolding global crisis. This is followed by a depiction of a Fanonian approach to therapy and its relation to the realities of climate change. The last portion of the article addresses possible changes to psychoanalytic education and professional organizations.
